Who we are

Comments

Suggested text: When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

Suggested text: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

Searching without an account

You can search without signing up, and we do not ask for your name or email to do it. When you search we record:

• the words you searched for, or the text produced from a voice search;
• which listings we showed you, and which one you told us was the right one;
• a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address — not the address itself.

We keep those records to improve matching and to see which businesses people are looking for and cannot find. The hash lets us rate-limit abuse without holding your IP address.

Search records are deleted automatically after 180 days.

Voice searches

If you search by speaking, your recording is sent to a speech-to-text service, converted into words, and then deleted in the same request. We do not store the audio, and we cannot play it back. Only the resulting text is kept, exactly as a typed search would be.

Your browser asks permission before the microphone is used, and you can refuse or withdraw it at any time in your browser settings. Typing always works as an alternative.

If you create an account

To list a commercial we store your email address, a securely hashed password, your business name, and the details you enter about each listing — including the phone number, which is published deliberately, because it is the whole point of the listing.

You can change any of it, or delete your account entirely, from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your listings with it.

Who else sees your data

We use third-party services to make search work: a speech-to-text provider for voice searches, and AI providers that read your search text and the commercials in our directory in order to rank matches. They process this for us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. Anything published on a listing is public by design.

Cookies

We set a cookie when you sign in, so the site remembers you. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may also store a small note that you have already granted microphone permission, so we do not explain it to you twice.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Account holders can do all three themselves from account settings; anyone else can write to us and we will act on it.

If you are a California resident, you additionally have the rights described under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, to delete, to correct, and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.

Children

This is a business directory and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the effective date above and, where the change affects account holders, tell them by email.
